Preclinical models to assess bone regeneration

Development and assessment of innovative biomaterials for bone regeneration

Is an oral surgeon and Professeur des Universités – Hospital Practitioner (MCU‑PH) in Oral Surgery at Bordeaux University Hospital, conducting her research within the BioTis Tissue Bioengineering Unit (INSERM UMR 1026). Her scientific work focuses on the regeneration of maxillofacial bone, with particular emphasis on the use of biological membranes—such as the amniotic membrane—for guided bone regeneration (GBR). She is also involved in the development of bioengineered composite scaffolds fabricated via 3D printing, aiming to optimize the balance between mechanical properties and biological performance. Dr. Fenélon has contributed to the design and validation of standardized preclinical models for bone regeneration, as well as to clinical translational studies and systematic reviews assessing the efficacy of biological substitutes in oral surgery. Alongside her research activities, she lectures at the University of Bordeaux, supervises postgraduate students, and integrates clinical practice, academic teaching, and translational research to advance patient care and innovation in oral biomaterials.
