Pr. Jean-Christophe Fricain

PU-PH, HDR

Is a dentist, oral surgeon, university professor, and hospital practitioner at the University and University Hospital of Bordeaux, where he oversees the Oral Medicine Clinic and directs the Technological Research Accelerator in 3D Bioprinting (ARTBioPrint) within the BioTis research unit (INSERM U1026). Fricain is a recognized expert in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and 3D bioprinting, working on the development of innovative biomaterials based on natural polysaccharides such as pullulan and dextran, enriched with hydroxyapatite, to promote bone regeneration and personalized maxillofacial reconstruction. A pioneer in the fabrication of living bone substitutes printed directly at the site of implantation, he also develops cellular models to study tumors and reduce the need for animal experimentation. He is the author and coordinator of several reference works in oral surgery, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery, and a member of the editorial board of L’Information Dentaire. Having delivered more than 300 lectures in France and abroad, Professor Fricain actively contributes to shaping the future of regenerative medicine and personalized bone reconstruction through his integrative approach combining fundamental research, technological innovation, and clinical application.
